Middle School Musical Aladdin to be Performed This Weekend

Don't miss this weekend's annual Middle School musical. This year's production is Disney's Aladdin Jr., a fun, hour-long version of the original Broadway production, adapted from the 1992 animated classic.
Come see the street rat, Aladdin, as he stays one jump ahead of the lawmen, meets Princess Jasmine, and finds true love with the help of a genie. Rounding out the cast of characters is the evil Jafar and his wise-cracking parrot, Iago, the well-meaning but bumbling Sultan, and Aladdin's every faithful monkey sidekick, Abu. And let's not forget the magic carpet.

Director Roy Barber says of this show, "This is a joyful, funny, magical musical. We've all jumped on board the carpet and we're having fun." Dr. Amy Wooley, the show band director, adds, "It is a huge challenge for our musicians to play in so many keys and they are handling it professionally. For Aladdin the band is also playing in many different styles, which requires a lot of sophistication." Technical Director, Dan Mellitz has been guiding the 7th and 8th grade technical theatre students. "This year the tech crew has worked extremely hard on the tech elements for Aladdin. From painting large flats to literally making junk look appealing, the middle school tech crew has and still is working to their full potential."

Shows are Saturday, May 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 20 at 3 p.m., in MacDonald Hall on the Postoak campus. Admission is $3 for students and seniors and $5 for adults.
