International students at St. Andrew’s join a global, diverse, and welcoming student community. Our international students are actively involved in extracurricular activities including visual and performing arts, athletics, and student clubs. We welcome well-qualified students from around the world.

International Student Program

International students at St. Andrew’s enjoy the benefits of studying in a warm and welcoming independent college preparatory school community. St. Andrew’s is a day school and all of our international students reside in our homestay program, living either in group houses with a house parent or with individual families. St. Andrew’s is located in a quiet residential suburban neighborhood in Potomac Maryland, a safe and beautiful area located only 30 minutes (20 miles) from Washington DC. Our students receive an excellent, well-rounded, college-preparatory education and are well prepared and supported through the college placement process.

St. Andrew’s accepts applications from international students for the 9th-11th grades.

St. Andrew's works closely with an agency, Ivy International Group, which supports students applying from China and oversees our homestay program for all international students. To start the application process as an international student (those students who will be joining the school on a F-1 Student Visa), please begin by contacting Lisa Shambaugh, Director of International Student Program, at lshambaugh@saes.org.

As a member of the host family household, international students are included in family meals, outings and other experiences.
