Casasola Leads Lions to Fourth Place at Landon Invite

Senior captain Thomas Casasola had a breakout performance Saturday at the Landon Invite to lead the St. Andrew’s boys cross country team to a fourth place finish of 13 teams in the Varsity A race. The Lions were aided as well by placing its first four runners in the top third of the 103 runner race.
Casasola traversed the challenging 5 km course in a personal best time of 18:14 to finish 11th overall. In doing so, his time places him as the 18th fastest runner on the St. Andrew’s all-time top 5 km list.

Sophomores Harrison Kehler and Charlie Ryan teamed up to race the course together. Their efforts paid off as both broke 19:00 to finish in 18:49 (22nd place) and 18:52 (24th place) respectively. Senior captain Nick Tsintolas was the next across the line in a personal best time of 19:18. Despite not feeling his best, sophomore Jack McCloy gutted out a solid race to round out the scoring for the team in 19:57 for 50th place overall.

Sophomore Connor McCloy (20:34 – 69th) and junior Andrew Pinto (20:43 – 73rd) were the other Varsity A competitors.

In the Varsity B race, freshman Tyler Povinelli had a standout performance to help the young Lions to a 6th place finish of 14 teams. He improved his time by nearly a minute and a half to finish 14th overall in the 106 runner race in a time of 20:24. He was joined by his classmate Alex Myler who also improved his time by a similar amount to finish in a time of 21:03, good enough for 28th place. Junior Jake Ravitch (21:15 – 32nd) also set a personal best in the race.
