Lions 17th of 53 teams at Oatlands Invite

St. Andrew’s had a solid showing on Saturday finishing in 17th place of 53 teams at the Oatlands Invite in Leesburg, Virginia despite competing without one of its varsity seven and having two runners who only recently returned from sickness and injury. Seniors Richard Royle and Bobby Radecki led the way for the Lions who raced for the third time in eight days.

The 5 km race, which featured teams from Virginia, Colorado, Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, New York, and Washington, DC, was the largest in which a St. Andrew’s team has competed in over the last fifteen years with 467 individuals running.

Royle and Radecki continued to push one another as they have all season. Royle finished 32nd overall in a time of 19:12 while Radecki was eleven seconds back good enough for 43rd place.

Sophomore Quinn Dunigan, coming off a leg injury, finished in the top third of the race placing 123rd with a time of 20:26. Senior Jack Tsintolas was the fourth man for the team finishing in a time of 20:58 to take 177th place.

Junior Will Lucas completed the scoring for St. Andrew’s with his 182nd place finish in a time of 21:00.

Sophomore Gordon Reeves (238th – 21:32) and junior Johnny Casasola (246th – 21:39) were the other varsity finishers while sophomore Andy Carr finished in 271st place with a time of 21:54.
