We are in the home stretch!
Dear Parents,

We are in the home stretch, wrapping up our sound of the week, reviewing math concepts, finishing our Peace of Mind curriculum, and enjoying the last weeks of our fairy tale unit.

We have been focusing on fractured fairy tales, the retelling of a traditional fairy tale where some of the elements are changed. We have been reading The Stinky Cheese Man and other Fairly Stupid Tales. Pre-K has found these stories to be hilarious. Do you know the story Little Red Running Shorts or The Princess and the Bowling Ball? Ask your child to tell you about them.

In Peace of Mind, we just finished the unit on the brain. We learned about the hippocampus which helps with memory, the amygdala which helps us with feelings and the prefrontal cortex which helps us make choices, plan, and make decisions. We used our five senses to connect what is happening in our brain. For example, we talked about touch and the role that the amygdala has in our safety patrol. We are brain experts!

Field Day was a huge success. We had beautiful weather and so many activities to do. And the best part was the snow cones!

We are cherishing every minute we have together as the year comes to an end.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Warmly,
Jody and Atena
