Pre-K celebrated World Kindness Day!
Dear Pre-K Families,

We’ve had a wonderful and heartwarming week in Pre-K as we celebrated World Kindness Day! It’s been a time of reflection and learning, focusing on the many ways we can spread kindness within our community and at home. This week, we dived into the world of literature to explore the theme of kindness. We read two inspiring books, The Kindness Book by Todd Parr and Kindness is Cooler, Mrs. Ruler by Margery Cuyler. These stories sparked thoughtful discussions and provided practical examples of how small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

In our Peace of Mind class, we took a journey within, using our imagination to transport ourselves to a calm place. Here, we practiced mindfulness by paying attention to our senses and the feelings of tranquility that our special spot evoked. This exercise not only brought a sense of peace to our classroom but also taught us valuable skills in self-regulation. We also tackled the topic of worry – a common feeling for many of us. Our little learners engaged in activities that helped them understand their worries and learned strategies to manage and reduce anxious feelings. It’s amazing to see our students embracing these coping techniques with such eagerness and understanding.

The sound of the week was /i/, as in 'igloo,' 'is,' and 'inside.' We employed alliteration, rhyming, and listening exercises to reinforce this sound. Our students crafted the letter 'I' using wooden pieces, play dough, chalk, and sponges to make its shape and sound. We also utilized the Wet, Dry, Try app for learning and practicing proper letter formation. This was followed by practicing the letter 'I' in our Learning Without Tears workbooks. Upon reviewing all the sounds we have learned since October, it was clear that the students have retained them remarkably well.

In the spirit of giving thanks, we channeled our inner artists to create beautiful Thanksgiving cards. These cards are more than just a craft; they carry our messages of gratitude and kindness to those in need as they will be included with holiday meals delivered by the wonderful organization, Feed the Fridge.

As we approach the holiday season, it’s heartening to see our Pre-K students embody the spirit of kindness in their actions and words. Let’s continue to encourage these young minds to spread kindness every day, in every way they can.

Thank you to all our Pre-K families for your support and encouragement. Together, we are nurturing a generation of kind, compassionate, and mindful individuals.

Wishing you and your family a heartfelt and happy Thanksgiving.

Warmest regards,

Mrs. Tehrani and Mrs. Kotek
