Upcoming field trip to Seneca Schoolhouse
Field Trip to Seneca Schoolhouse
October 26 - Drennen
November 9 - Rogge

What You Should Know: For the field trip, each student has been assigned the "role" of an actual child who attended Seneca Schoolhouse. The students will act as that child for the entire day, including dressing like the child, and responding to the child’s name. Everyone has been given a biography of the child they will "act" that day. Each student will need to know his or her "role" as that child and be able to tell their teacher, Miss Darby, about themselves.

What You Can Wear: To enhance our time warp back to the colonial period, Seneca Schoolhouse suggests that the students dress up as colonial children. Children are invited to dress up if they would like, however, this is not something we want you to spend time or money on. Click here for examples and ideas of how to dress as a colonial child.
Suggested guidelines include:
BOYS
  • Sweatpants or other pants that can be rolled up to the knee
  • Soccer socks/tall socks pulled up to below the pants line at the knee
  • Button-down shirt
GIRLS
  • Long dress or skirt with a blouse (a uniform blouse with a peter pan color is perfect)
  • An optional add-on might be an apron (which can easily be made by borrowing an adult's shirt and tying the sleeves around their waist).

This will be a fun, educational and unforgettable field trip! We look forward to passing along great pictures of your colonial kiddos!

Fourth Grade Girls Lunch Bunch

This week the fourth grade girls gathered with LS counselor Alexis Friedlander to speak about the role of a school counselor as well as the upcoming lunch bunch series that will begin next week. This weekly fourth grade girls lunch bunch series will span over the next month. Topics will cover the following: friendships, inclusion versus exclusion, empathy and values, boundaries, communication, conflict resolution, and empowerment. Situational examples will provide awareness, leading to tools and strategies for the girls to utilize in social situations. This entire series is set up to create a safe space for the girls to articulate thoughts, develop greater social and communication skills, and  foster a sense of community and belonging here at school.
