Organic Biochemistry Students Publish Scientific Journal

Students anonymously reviewed each other's articles, and the top papers are now published in the inaugural Journal of Organic Biochemistry at St. Andrew’s (JOBSA).
Students in Will Ferriby's Spring 2020 Organic Biochemistry class developed a scientific mindset by reading and presenting on scientific journal articles, including research on COVID-19. Organic Biochemistry is among a diverse array of rigorous senior science electives offered at St. Andrew's, which also include Conceptual Physics and Robotics.

"During the winter and spring, students learn to read current research articles in biochemistry. In April, students present an in-depth analysis of a recent journal article of their choice," Ferriby writes in an introduction to the journal. "This final project requires each student to write their own review style article, synthesized from the information they find in multiple professional publications."

Topics chosen for the project include the science behind vaping products, self-tanning, and food coloring. Click here to read the journal in its entirety.
