Potomac (Maryland) - St. Andrew’s Episcopal School is excited to announce a partnership with The Children’s Education Initiative (TCEI), a San Diego-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of education for socioeconomically disadvantaged children. The awarding of a $1.63 million multi-year grant by TCEI will allow more families access to a St. Andrew’s education.
The TCEI grant will allow St. Andrew’s to fully fund two additional students from kindergarten through eighth grade, beginning with the 2026-2027 school year. In addition to tuition, the grant will also support all auxiliary and ancillary programs, uniforms, books, technology, transportation, and any required tutoring. In applying for the grant, St. Andrew’s has committed to continue this level of financial support for those students for ninth through twelfth grade.
“Nurturing a broadly diverse and talented community is essential for our mission and for educational excellence,” noted Head of School Robert Kosasky. “I am deeply grateful for TCEI’s partnership in supporting the opportunity and success of our future Lions.”
When seeking potential partners, TCEI looks for schools that demonstrate a strong commitment to increasing access for groups that are often underrepresented in independent school education. With its long-standing commitment to diversity and a robust financial aid program, St. Andrew’s was a natural fit to partner with TCEI. Research has shown that a diversity of perspectives in every classroom, including socioeconomic diversity, improves educational outcomes for all students. Of St. Andrew’s 735 students, nearly 30% receive some form of financial aid or tuition remission with an average grant of $25,000. In total, St. Andrew’s allocates approximately $8 million for tuition and fees to open doors to students who otherwise might not have access to a St. Andrew’s education.
“Each year, we are proud to welcome outstanding new students into the St. Andrew’s community, students who bring talent, promise, and diverse perspectives,” said Jeff Depelteau, Director of Enrollment Management. “We firmly believe that true opportunity requires more than access; it requires support. Thanks to this generous grant from TCEI, students who demonstrate great potential but limited means can find a home at St. Andrew's.
"This partnership represents more than funding — it reflects a shared commitment to opportunity, belonging, and excellence."
Since its inception, St. Andrew’s has been committed to providing exceptional teaching and learning to a diverse group of students. This partnership with TCEI reflects the joint commitment and shared dedication to socioeconomic diversity and the impact of an independent school education in shaping future leaders.
