Trimester Performing Arts Assemblies: At the end of each academic trimester, we host a performing arts assembly for Upper School students and faculty in MacDonald Hall. These assemblies consist of performances from our various instrumental, vocal, drama and dance ensembles.
Upper School Fall Play (October): Performed by members of St. Andrew’s Players, this is an after-school offering that counts towards sports credit. Fall 2017 premiered a new production entitled She Kills Monsters by Qui Nguyen. The Fall 2016 was a modern version of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Winter Music Concert (January): This coffee-house styled evening showcases student music ensembles in both the middle and upper school divisions, including MS Band, MS Chorus, Jazz Band, Symphonic Rock Orchestra, Chorus and A Cappella Club.
Upper School Musical (February): This production typical features 40 – 50 students as members of the cast, show band and tech crew, whose production season runs after school during the second trimester. Recent shows have included: Sister Act (2018), Cabaret, Hairspray, The Drowsy Chaperone and Oklahoma.
Spring Music Concert (April): This evening is a culmination of our year in music, with our MS and US student music ensembles. The event also includes senior recognitions and send-offs.
US Spring Dance Concert (April): Members of the Spring Dance Company perform a varied set of dance numbers from multiple genres of movement. The event features a number of student compositions.
Busch Gardens Festival (April): Members of the Jazz Band, Symphonic Rock Orchestra, and A Cappella Club take a weekend trip to Williamsburg, Virginia to compete in the Music Showcase Festival. In addition to performing for a panel of adjudicators, ensemble students enjoy a full day at Busch Gardens theme park, concluding with the highly anticipated awards ceremony (in 2016 our ensembles all earned the highest ratings of Superior, and the Jazz Band won the overall award).
