The St. Andrew’s Equestrian Team provides equestrians in 6th through 12th grade with an opportunity to compete for the school and engage in other team bonding activities.
The Equestrian Team, as part of the Inter-School Horse Show series, emphasizes sportsmanship and teamwork for all levels of equestrian experience, novice through advanced. During eight regular season horse shows, an end of the year invitational horse show, monthly team meetings, four optional team lessons, and additional optional volunteer and bonding activities, we strive to create a positive, encouraging atmosphere for equestrians. The team competes from September through March with www.interschoolhorseshow.org
All equestrians are welcome to join the team & individuals who have been taking weekly riding lessons for at least one calendar year are eligible to compete in horse shows. Equestrian team members take lessons year round, on their own, at the stable of their choice. St. Andrew’s covers the entry fee at horse shows, but does not pay for team members individual riding lessons.
At horse shows, competing team members participate in three classes that make up one division. Each division consists of two flat classes and one over fences class. Over fences classes range from a course of four jumps at 18” to a course of eight jumps at 2’6” depending on the division level. Competing team members are given the option to lease a horse from the hosting stable, which most of our current team members choose to do.
The St. Andrew’s Equestrian Team consistently finishes in the top ten for JV and Varsity out of 20+ schools. The JV team was named the 2017-2018 Champion of the Inter-School Horse Show Series.
Signups take place at St. Andrew's during the second week of school. Please contact Coach Natelli with any questions at firstname.lastname@example.org
