St. Andrew's Students Bring Home 10 Different Art Awards in Regional Competition

Seven St. Andrew’s students won 10 different awards in the Scholastic Art & Writing Northeast Art Region competition. Three seniors, three juniors and a seventh grader won awards ranging from Gold Key to Honorable Mention.
 
Joy Reeves ’18 earned a Gold Key Award in Comic Art and a Silver Key award in Design. Lisa Leitner ’18 also earned a Gold Key in Painting while Caroline Albright ’18 earned a Gold Key in Design. Ben Wang ’17 picked up a Silver Key in Architecture & Industrial Design and a pair of Honorable Mentions in Art Portfolio and Sculpture. Will Lucas ’17 and Ely Sibarium ’17 both received Honorable Mention in Drawing & Illustration and Joseph Masters ‘’22 grabbed Honorable Mention in Mixed Media.
 
According to the Scholastic Art & Writing website, nearly 320,000 works of art and writing were submitted by students in 2016. 

Gold Key works are automatically included in national-level judging.  Approximately 5 – 7% of these works receive national recognition. In 2016, 2,500 National Medals were awarded.

The National Ceremony will be held in New York on June 8.
