Alumna and Documentary Filmmaker Speaks to Upper School

Documentary filmmaker Neha Shastry '09 spoke to Upper School students about her career and how St. Andrew's helped her develop her point of view as a filmmaker while in town working on her latest project.
Students engaged with Neha on a variety of topics, including what inspires her, what it's like being an Indian-American in the film industry, and what she might say to her high-school self today. She credits her success to defining her point of view, which is inspired by a quote from Howard Zinn she first heard in Alex Haight's history class, and being relentless and steadfast in pursuit of her goals.

Shastry's credits include the Peabody-nominated and Oscar-shortlisted film "All In: The Fight For Democracy," which features Stacey Abrams and focuses on the legacy of voter suppression in the United States.
