Varsity Boys Baseball
The baseball program at St. Andrew’s has had many successes over the years. The team has finished consistently in the middle of the league with a third place finish in 2008. The team plays in the highly competitive MAC league, which has teams that constantly compete with the best teams in the Metro Area. St. Andrew’s has been fortunate enough to consistently have elite players. Over the last several years’ players have gone on to play at colleges such as: Southern University, Sewanee College, Hamilton College, Rhodes College and Hofstra College.
The focus of the program is on fundamental play and skill improvement in every area. Players are coached at the level that they are at and then put on regimented practice schedules that helps them develop at a steady rate throughout their careers. The turfed field is one of the golden attractions to the baseball program at St. Andrew’s. There are very few turf fields in the area and with a cozy surroundings of trees and open space this manicured field is one of the favorites for every team that visits. The team does a fair amount of traveling over spring break having gone to Cocoa Beach, Florida, Disney World Sports complex in Orlando, and The Cal Ripken Academy in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Players are encouraged to play on outside teams during the off-season to hone their skills and gain exposure to college programs.
