1. Weather Related Closings
St. Andrew's makes the decisions for all weather-related school closings. Listen for a school closing, delayed-opening, or early dismissal announcement on WTOP radio (1500 AM and 103.5 FM), WRC TV (channel 4) or WUSA TV (channel 9), go to the school's website at www.saes.org, or the Critical/Emergency Message Hotline at 301-983-4730,
ext. 350.
a. Closing School Due to Inclement Weather
After 6:00 a.m., listen for the school closing announcement on WTOP radio (1500 AM and 103.5 FM), WRC TV (channel 4) or WUSA TV (channel 9), go to the school's website at www.saes.org, or the Critical/Emergency Message Hotline at 301-983-4730, ext. 350.
b. Delayed Opening Due to Inclement Weather
In the event conditions warrant, the decision will be made to delay the opening of school until 10:00 a.m. School buses will run 2 hours later than the normal pick-up time at all locations. After 6:00 a.m., listen for the school delayed opening announcement on WTOP radio (1500 AM and 103.5 FM), WRC TV (channel 4) or WUSA TV (channel 9), check our website at www.saes.org, or call the Critical/Emergency Message Hotline at 301-983-4730, ext. 350.
c. Early Dismissal Due to Weather Conditions
In the event weather conditions warrant, St. Andrew's will announce an early dismissal. An emergency e-mail alert message will be sent to parents and students from school will be asked to call a parent. To confirm the early dismissal closing time check the St. Andrew's website at www.saes.org or call the Critical/Emergency Message Hotline at
301-983-4730, ext. 350.
2. NON-WEATHER RELATED CLOSING
In the event that St. Andrew's must close school due to a non-weather related event--power outage, water main break, etc.--if possible, we will do the following to communicate this unexpected closure:
a. Send a global emergency e-mail.
b. Make an announcement on WTOP radio (1500 AM and 103.5 FM).
c. Post a message saying that school is closed on the St. Andrew's website at www.saes.org.
d. Update the Critical/Emergency Message Hotline at 301-983-4730, ext. 350.
The re-opening date of school will be announced on the school website and the Critical/Emergency Message Hotline.
