Extended Day Teacher (Part-time)

St. Andrew’s Episcopal School seeks an Extended Day Teacher for students in Kindergarten to Grade 2.
This position collaborates with the Extended Day faculty in designing and implementing the program and reports to the Extended Day Coordinator. This is a great opportunity for an educator with vision, energy, and a great love of children. The Extended Day Teacher is a part-time teaching position that is contracted from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following responsibilities:
 
  • Supervise and care for children in Kindergarten to Grade 2.
  • Possess education and experience appropriate to the age and ability level of the students.
  • Plan a curriculum that develops on the themes, concepts, and expectations of the day school program.
  • Ensure a well-balanced program by preparing daily lesson plans and long-term schedules of activities that give children opportunities to learn and play in a mixed-aged setting.
  • Collaborate constructively with colleagues on the Extended Day Faculty and Lower School homeroom teachers.
  • Maintain discipline and a suitable learning environment based on the principles of Responsive Classroom in the classroom and on the playground.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and electronically with parents about their child’s school day.
  • Follow sign-in and sign-out procedures and established operating procedures at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment and leave the area in an orderly fashion upon departure.
  • Attend staff meetings, school functions, and in-house training sessions as required.
  • Support the spirit of our Episcopal school.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
