CANCELLED: MLK Jr. Day of Service

Dear Parents,

 

We regret to announce that tomorrow's MLK Day of Service, scheduled for the Postoak Campus, is cancelled due to the forecast of potentially hazardous weather and road conditions. It is always our preference to wait until the day of a weather event to make a determination, but Stop Hunger Now, the organization we partner with for the food packaging portion of the Day of Service, requires 24-hour notice, forcing us to make the decision today. We have chosen to err on the side of caution.

 

Most years, we package approximately 20,000 meals. In order to ensure that Stop Hunger Now still receives those 20,000 meals, we will donate the food materials that we would ordinarily purchase for the event to another organization that would like to hold its own Day of Service but lacks the funding. The other activities, such as blanket making, toiletry bag assembly and bowl making and painting, will happen in the near future in class settings or as after school opportunities.
