You are welcome to submit additional recommendations from teachers who have known your child longer, but we do need a recommendation from the current English teacher and the current math teacher. We use the AISGW (Associated Independent Schools of the Greater Washington Area) Common Recommendation forms, which are available on Ravenna, or for download here.
An admission interviewer will chat with your child for 10 to 15 minutes about favorite academic subjects, sports, and fun activities, immediately followed by a 10 to 15 minute conversation with one or both parents. You can schedule your interview via Ravenna or call us at 240-477-1700.

Yes -- just tell us in advance that your prefer to visit the current grade. We generally book visits for the grade to which you are applying because we feel it gives you a better sense of what next year will be like.
Financial aid applications are due to TADS by January 13. Newly accepted families who are granted financial aid awards will receive that notification with their enrollment contracts, which are mailed on March 3, immediately after the acceptance emails.
Applying for admission is a separate process from applying for financial aid. However, we can’t always meet all applicants’ demonstrated need, and some applicants are accepted for admission but are waitlisted for financial aid.
Yes! We have five daily shuttle services covering Friendship Heights and Chevy Chase/Bethesda; Spring Valley; Silver Spring, Wheaton and Rockville; Great Falls and McLean; and Germantown and Rockville.
Students in grades 6 through 12 wear comfortable, neat, and presentable clothes as defined in our student handbook. Students do not wear jeans, T shirts, flip flops, or athletic clothing unless it is a specially designated “relaxed dress” day.
Students in preschool through grade 5 wear a uniform consisting of blue or khaki pants or shorts, polo shirt with the SAES logo or blouse, skort or dress, and SAES sweater or sweatshirt, along with athletic shoes.
