  • Innovative Teaching

    Our students deserve an educational experience that supports, challenges, and prepares them for the opportunities and expectations of an increasingly diverse and interconnected world. This education depends on a highly trained faculty that understands each student as a person and learner and on programs that unlock each child’s potential. Therefore, St. Andrew’s will strive to:
    Become an internationally recognized leader in innovative, research based teaching and learning through the application of Mind, Brain, and Education Science (MBE)
    • Make research-based teaching and learning a central focus of faculty professional development, curriculum and program design, and assessment throughout the school
      • Cultivate and deepen partnerships with like-minded research-based institutions and foundations
      • Develop research tools and data that measure and convey how Mind, Brain, and Education Science enhances teacher quality and student achievement at St. Andrew’s and in the larger educational community.
      • Identify the opportunities and challenges associated with the expansion of the Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning (CTTL) into the new Student Center and online programming
        • Refine the mission, goals, and leadership structure for The Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning
        • Determine and increase funding needs and sources, along with revenue-generating programs, for the CTTL
    • Teach students how to become efficient, confident, collaborative, and self-aware learners          
      • Integrate and sequence metacognition (learning about learning) into coursework at each grade level
      • Engage students in the research of how to maximize their learning
    • Use classroom and campus technology to support research-based teaching and learning
      • Increase the use of data to assess and improve student learning
      • Increase the flexibility and mobility of campus technology 
  • Diversity

    A broadly diverse community promotes educational excellence and reflects St. Andrew’s Episcopal identity. Therefore St. Andrew’s will strive to:
    Ensure that our faculty and staff, student body, curriculum, and school culture reflect the school’s commitment to supporting educational excellence through diverse experiences and multiple perspectives
    • Actively focus on the recruitment, retention and development of faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds
    • Actively focus on the recruitment, retention, and achievement of students from underrepresented backgrounds
    • Intensify the multicultural and global emphasis within school curriculum and culture
      • Expand opportunities for international programs, including service learning opportunities                       
      • Expand enrollment and support for international students 
    • Increase trustee diversity to support the presence of multiple perspectives in school governance  
    • Intensify and deepen professional development and expectations for faculty and staff around supporting diversity, equity, and inclusive pedagogy
    • Engage and educate the broader community on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Communications/Marketing

    St. Andrew’s public reputation and communication of its distinctive strengths must be as deep and clear as the quality of its educational programs. Therefore, St. Andrew’s will strive to:
    Build enrollment through increased school visibility and reputation, by enhancing the experience of current families, and by maintaining focus on our core message of exceptional teaching and learning in a joyful environment.

    • Articulate and broadly share the School’s vision for 21st-century educational excellence
      • Communicate and capitalize on the unique educational value and outcomes of the CTTL and St. Andrew’s research-based approach to education
      • Communicate the educational and community benefits of the new Student Center
      • Provide current and prospective families greater insight into teaching and community at St. Andrew’s by augmenting their web-based interaction with the school
      • Deepen programmatic, faculty, and cultural connections between campuses as part of enhancing a “two-campus, one-school” culture 
    • Determine and achieve full enrollment
      • Expand applicant pools, increase admission yields, and ensure student retention at each grade level
      • Celebrate institutional spirit and pride at each grade level and division
      • Ensure that each prospective student and parent has an exceptional experience 
  • Facilities

    Current and future programs require improved facilities. Therefore, St. Andrew’s will strive to:
    Continue implementation of the school’s master plan through construction of the Student Center and renovation of lower level of the Postoak main building
    • Successfully complete the Our Students at the Center campaign 
    • Manage and direct new construction and renovation of current space, including the planning necessary for each phase of the building process.
    • Ensure continued financial strength to fund future initiatives and long-term sustainability
