Senior Art Showcased, Recognized at Reception

St. Andrew’s hosted its Senior Art Show reception on Wednesday night as 18 students displayed their work in Kreeger Gallery. The reception gave those in attendance a chance to speak to the artists about their work and hear from Head of School Robert Kosasky, who recognized the technical excellence and creative production that results from the school’s rigorous art program and AP studio artists while also acknowledging the wider circle of students at St. Andrew’s who express their passions and interests through the visual arts.

The show, titled “Outer Spaces” and curated by the six AP Studio Art students, began on March 7 and has drawn rave reviews from parents, faculty and students. Painting, drawing, pottery, photography and mixed media were all represented in the show, as well as a Lego sculpture.

The curators, and members of the AP Studio Art class, are Gracie Ashworth, Dana Figel, Amenah Morgan, Andrea Retamal, Olivia Spaccasi and Cat Wagner. Wagner, Spaccasi and Figel displayed paintings and drawings, Morgan showed her paintings, Retamal presented her drawings and mixed media and Ashworth showcased her photography and mixed media.

Outer Spaces will remain up and on display in Kreeger Gallery through April 5. The full list of artists with work on displays includes Ashworth, Helena Crist, Figel, Brian Huber, Aidan Lucas, Bennett Lunceford, Will McLearn, James McLeish, Morgan, Stephanie Quintero, Bobby Radecki, Retamal, Peter Schwartz, Rachel Sidel, Spaccasi, Andrea Stanley, Wagner and Leila Youssef.
