Maddie Amick '18 Competes in Washington Metro Interscholastic Swimming and Diving Championship

Sophomore Maddie Amick became St. Andrew's first ever swimmer to compete and score in the prestigious Washington Metro Interscholastic Swimming and Diving Championship this earlier this month.
One of the best meets in perhaps the fastest swimming area in the country, Maddie swam the 500 yard freestyle and 200 yard IM.

As the 36th seed, Maddie was not expected to make the 500 freestyle final.

However, Maddie pushed strong through the middle of the race, never posting a 50 yard split above 34 seconds.

She eclipsed her previous record time by nearly 15 seconds to finish with a 5:21.99.

Maddie passed many other swimmers and made the B final, scoring the first ever points for the SAES swim team at the Metros meet.  Maddie likewise dropped 7 seconds to finish with a stellar 2:18.29 in the grueling 200 yard IM.
