Four Seniors Named Commended Students in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program

Congratulations to Gabrielle Gedo, Christopher Jung, Spencer Marks, and Dylan Mitchell for being named Commended Students in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program.  The four seniors were among the approximately 34,000 students recognized nationally for placing among the top five percent of more than 1.5 milion students who entered the competition.
In late September, more than two-thirds (about 34,000) of the approximately 50,000 high scorers on the PSAT/NMSQT® receive Letters of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise. Commended Students are named on the basis of a nationally applied Selection Index score that may vary from year to year and is typically below the level required for participants to be named Semifinalists in their respective states.

"The young men and women being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success," commended a spokesperson for NMSC. "These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play i their academic development , is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success."
