With MAC, ISL Tournaments, Fall Sports Season Coming to a Dramatic Conclusion
The fall sports season is coming to a close at St. Andrew’s and there have already been some terrific successes with the chance of more to come.
This past weekend, Luke Armbuster became the first Lion to win the individual MAC Cross Country Championship in more than a decade. The junior ran the 5k course in 16 minutes, 31 seconds, winning the title by an impressive eight seconds. The boys cross country team secured a third place finish in the meet. The girls team finished 11th out of 16 ISL teams with Joy Reeves finishing 13th out of 103 runners in a time of 20:42.
The girls tennis team finished the ISL regular season in second place and will open the ISL tournament on Tuesday by hosting GDS at the Shirley Povich Tennis Courts at 3 p.m.
The boys soccer team will play for the MAC title on Wednesday, looking for their first championship since 2003. The boys opened the MAC tournament on Friday with a 1-0 win over Georgetown and followed it up on Monday with a 1-0 victory at Maret. Both victories avenged regular-season losses. On Wednesday at 3 p.m., the Lions will play at Flint Hill with the title in the balance.
The girls soccer team will also play on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the opening round of the ISL tournament. The Lions will play at Holy Child.
The volleyball team will begin its tournament on Thursday. The volleyball team, which won the ISL tournament last year, will play at Episcopal. The Lions defeated Episcopal earlier this year in Potomac. The volleyball team was 7-1 on its new home floor this past season.
St. Andrew’s Episcopal School is a private, coeducational college preparatory day school for students in preschool (Age 2) through grade 12, located in Potomac, Maryland.
