'Life in Art' Exhibit Pays Tribute to SAES Partnership with Haiti
Posted October 11, 2012
St. Andrew’s and Lionel Delatour of Gallery C in Port au Prince are proudly presenting over 85 paintings by contemporary Haitian artists in Kreeger Gallery beginning October 11, 2012 through October 17, 2012.
Haitians have long been fluent in the language of art as an expression of everyday life making Haiti’s artwork a powerful cultural expression. In presenting “Colors of a Culture: Haitian Life in Art”, we pay tribute to our developing friendship, our common goals, and our future work together.
The artwork is amazingly diverse. African, French, and Caribbean influences are skillfully interpreted by each of the gifted artists in this show. Paintings deal with political, social, and religious themes. The harsh realities of Haiti are captured, but so to is the pride of the people, and the beauty of the land.
All of the paintings are for sale. Each painting sold goes to benefit St. Andrew’s work in Civol, Haiti at the Christ Roi School. Moreover, your purchase of this reasonably priced art benefits Haitian artists.
Please plan to come and to be inspired, while supporting the school’s ongoing work in Haiti.
