SAES Dance Instructor To Present Showcase At Kennedy Center This Weekend
Posted June 5, 2012
St. Andrew's Dance Instructor, Roxie Doniphan Thomas, has been commissioned to choreograph a new dance work for the Millennium Stage Series at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
For this occasion she has created Set in Motion a piece that she describes as " a personal journey of evolution and how we deal with situations, events, emotions, and circumstances that are ever changing."
The original inspiration for the project was the story of Sarah Winchester, the heiress to the Winchester Rifle fortune.
Dan Mellitz, St. Andrew's Technical Director, has constructed a set piece that visually captures the concept of change and stasis.
Set in Motion features dancers Stacie Cannon, Laura Grace McMillan, and Althea Skinner and is part of Unhinged an evening of dance that centers around the concept of doors.
Unhinged will be presented on Saturday, June 9th, at 6 p.m. at the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage. Don't miss this dynamic evening of dance and wonderful showcase for a St. Andrew's faculty member! Admission is free.
