Admission Criteria
St. Andrew's seeks students who have demonstrated academic
ability, intellectual curiosity, motivation, and the desire to contribute
to the community. The Admission Committee carefully considers a student's
school record (if applicable), teacher recommendation(s), personal interview, and performance
on required testing. Admission decisions are made on the basis of a candidate's
individual strengths and talents and on his or her potential to be
successful and fulfilled at St. Andrew's.

Admission Process
We welcome inquiries about the application process throughout
the year. Contact the appropriate Admission Office for information, 301-983-5200, or email admission@saes.org.
For all grades, February 1 is the deadline for the application, fee, interview,
and all supporting materials. Applications received after
the February 1 deadline will be considered if space becomes
available.

Register for and take the appropriate required test.
Applicants to Kindergarten through Grade 3 are required to have an admission test individually administered by an approved educational diagnostician at a testing service center. The appropriate test is administered according to specific age guidelines. Younger children take the Wechsler Preschool & Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPSSI-III), while those over age six take the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-IV). Contact the Admission Office for a list of local test centers.
Winter
Request that your current school send the applicant's transcript to the Admission Office. Please forward the transcript release form to the Registrar of the applicant's current school.
Request that the current teacher fill out and send the teacher recommendation form to St. Andrew's.
Complete the student visit to St. Andrew's. Applicants to Preschool through Kindergarten are invited to participate in a group visit of approximately one hour (January or February). At this time teachers will have the opportunity to meet and observe applicants. The purpose of the visit is to assess the child's developmental level and assist the school in appropriate placement.

For applicants to Middle and Upper School, St. Andrew's accepts both the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) and the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). In order to meet our admission deadline, we suggest that you register for the November, December, or January testing dates for either test. Please be sure that you ask for the results to be sent to St. Andrew's; our SSAT number is 6266 and our ISEE number is 211222.
