International Students

We encourage international students to apply to St. Andrew's.

In general, international students enter St. Andrew's at the start of ninth grade.  Therefore, the information provided here centers around the admission process for Upper School students.  Please be aware that other admission requirements may apply for international students who apply to grades other than ninth grade.

Interview

We encourage all international students to visit our campus and interview in person.  If this is not possible, a video Skype interview is required.  An admission representative will contact the applicant to set up the interview once the initial application is submitted.

Testing

In addition to the required admission testing for Upper School students (Secondary School Admission Test - SSAT or Independent School Entrance Exam - ISEE), international students who do not speak English as their native language are also required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).  St. Andrew's TOEFL school code is 2618.  In general, a TOEFL score of 75, or higher, is preferred.

Transcripts and Teacher Recommendations

Applicants are required to have a transcript submitted directly from their current school.  The transcript must be translated into English and must include current trimester or semester grades in addition to grades from the past two years.  Please access the application forms and handouts page for a copy of the transcript release form.

Applicants are required to have two recommendations (one from their current English teacher and one from their current math teacher) submitted directly from their teachers in English.  Please access the application forms and handouts page for copies of the teacher recommendation forms.

Housing

Because St. Andrew's is not a boarding school, all international students are required to arrange a guardian and housing on their own.  Please read our Guardianship Policy for more information.

English support

In most cases, international students are required to take grade-level English as well as an additional ESL support class. All other subjects are taken on grade-level, and all international students are expected to fulfill all graduation requirements.  The foreign language requirement may be waived for non-native-English-speaking international students.

I-20

After a student is accepted and enrolled in St. Andrew's, the I-20 is issued through the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS).

Tuition

In addition to tuition, international students pay an annual fee of $5,000, which covers additional English instruction and administrative support.  Financial aid is not available for international students.
