Dear Friends,
Posted May 26, 2009
I really don't understand how we got to the end of the year so quickly, but I do remember that the year was longer when the children were younger -- so you may well be very ready for summertime! Preparing for those hazy, lazy, crazy days of summer, I've been given summer reading and activity lists for children entering Kindergarten through Grade 3 to put online. As I type this, the webpage with the links to the lists is NOT behaving, so if you click on the links, they won't work. I'm hoping that by the time I press send on this newsletter, the problem will be solved. Therefore, I'll give you this link: Summer Reading and Activity (or look under Lower School/Summer Reading). If at first you don't succeed, please try again tomorrow. I may have to get a higher authority involved.
The health forms are not yet online; coming soon. I will send one more newsletter next week.
Last of all, everyone who wants to come is welcome at Graduation ceremonies at the Washington National Cathedral next Friday, June 5 at 10:00am. There is paid parking underground and parking in the neighborhood. The speaker will be St. Andrew's parent Anita Dunn (Stephen Bauer, Grade 7), senior advisor and chief communications officer to the Obama presidential campaign. Katherine -
Remember to retrieve medications
Diane Stewart, School Nurse
Posted May 26, 2009
Parents, please remember to pick up any medications that you sent to school for your child this year. Your child’s teacher will give you the medication on the last day of school. These medications include Epi-Pens, inhalers, allergy medications etc. We do not store the medications over the summer. Any medications that are not picked up will be disposed of. Please see the receptionist if you need to pick up medications at a more convenient time.

Field Day!
Althea Wilson, Assistant to the Head of the Lower School
Posted May 26, 2009
On Friday, May 22nd, Lower School elementary students had their Field Day. PE Teacher extraordinaire, Mrs Buckley, planned an exciting morning. Students, classified into teams of blue, green and red, utilized most of the skills they had learned during their PE classes this year while they participated in a sponge relay, balloon pop, three-legged race and rock, paper, scissors relay. In a fitting culmination to their exciting morning, elementary students feasted on a picnic lunch of pizza and popsicles.

Fun Fair -- It really was fun!
Althea Wilson, Assistant to the Head of the Lower School

Saturday's hot summer weather provided the ideal backdrop for this year's Lower School fun fair. From 12:00 - 3:00 p.m., the Lower School field was set up with a mega slide and mini-carousels that caught the attention of our littlest attendees. Kids could get their faces painted while feasting on sno-cones, popcorn, cotton candy and pizza. This year's Fun Fair was a smashing success due largely to our very able parent volunteers. Newly enrolled families were also in attandance. Everyone had a wonderful time!
