Dozens of Alumni Return to Bradmoor Campus

On Saturday, April 20, St. Andrew’s held its first-ever Bradmoor Campus Reunion, inviting all students who attended St. Andrew’s prior to 1999 to visit their former, beloved campus. Joined by a score of former teachers and their families, more than 80 alumni attended the event.
The day included a morning meeting, led by current Head of Upper School Ginger Cobb (who spent many years teaching on the Bradmoor Campus) complete with faculty and student announcements. Alumni walked their old hallways and relaxed in the courtyard over lunch while reminiscing with former classmates and teachers.

Outgrowing two locations as the school grew quickly in reputation, programs, and enrollment, St. Andrew’s leased the North Bethesda Junior High School campus on Bradmoor Drive in Bethesda in September 1981. With 245 students, 28 teachers, and its first graduating class that year, St. Andrew’s had entered the ranks of full-fledged independent college-preparatory schools.

However, in 1989, Montgomery County decided to reclaim the Bradmoor site, and St. Andrew’s began a search for a new home. Led by the energy and resourcefulness of its Board of Trustees, St. Andrew’s purchased a 19.2-acre site on Postoak Road in Potomac, Maryland in 1993. At one critical juncture, six trustees personally guaranteed the loan that secured the Postoak Campus and the school’s future. In 1998, St. Andrew's dedicated the Postoak Campus and quickly grew to 450 students in grades six through twelve before evolving to the preschool through Grade 12 school with 720 students that it is today.
